Emergency Contraception Provision

HRA Pharma provided training to help pharmacists and pharmacy support staff to review whether their current EC provision was consistent with the new national guidance from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH).

A printed ‘CPD Update’ was distributed to all pharmacies via Pharmacy Magazine and an e-learning module was included within an extensive library of content via The Pharmacy Network. The training was runner-up for the Best OTC Pharmacy Training at the OTC Marketing Awards 2018.

Pancreatic Cancer Action – the role of the pharmacy team

UK charity Pancreatic Cancer Action wanted to develop education and training materials for pharmacy teams to help them spot the symptoms of pancreatic cancer and identify when urgent referral to the GP is required, which could potentially save customers’ lives.

Hypertension training

Omron teamed up with CIG Healthcare to create an innovative digital learning module tailored to help pharmacy teams make a difference in patients' lives. This British and Hypertension Society (BIHS)-accredited module is syndicated across CIG's The Pharmacy Network – an online learning portal that is integrated within retailer and pharmacy organisations. To support the launch, a digital and print marketing campaign ran across CIG magazine titles, which have a combined distribution of more than 35,268 readers working in community pharmacy.

A visually engaging 4-page training and CPD guide was developed to educate pharmacists and pharmacy support staff about the use of the Sterimar range as a drug-free option for the relief of nasal conditions associated with hay fever. It was designed so that it could also be used by the sales force as a sales aid and leave piece. The guide was attached to Pharmacy Magazine’s front cover and supported by a promotional package to create awareness of the training.

A 4-page training guide was developed to update and refresh the pharmacy team’s knowledge of the advantages of Antacids for the management of heartburn and indigestion. The focus was on helping the pharmacy team to match customers’ needs to the choice of formats within the Rennie range. The guide was attached to Training Matters' front cover and supported by a promotional package to raise awareness of the training opportunity.

An eModule to highlight the new government guidelines on the intake of Vitamin D and the opportunities for pharmacy. Aimed at pharmacists, this module is available across multiple platforms such as desktop, tablet and mobile. This training received the NPA training seal of excellence.

An eModule developed to refresh pharmacists’ and the pharmacy team’s knowledge of pain management and to support the launch of a new OTC pain management brand. Versions were developed for desktop, tablet and mobile use and the training received the NPA communications seal of excellence.

Structured, on-going training aimed at giving the pharmacy team full product knowledge as well as guidance and practical advice on how to engage with customers and put them at ease. The training was distributed over a period of years and spanned paper-based, face-to face, and video training.

Training materials in both print and digital formats with an innovative design that aimed to revise pharmacist and pharmacy team's knowledge of cold sores while standing out in the market. The overall objective of the training was to support the acquisition and international roll-out of the cold sore product. Four versions of the training materials had to be created to meet the various brand names used in different countries.

Danone Nutricia continues to build its training resources to empower pharmacists and pharmacy support staff in playing a key role in offering reassurance and advice regarding infant feeding problems. The materials include a Conversation Aid to enable healthcare professionals to have better conversations with parents, an evidence-based booklet entitled Functional Gastro-intestinal Disorders-the nutritional approach, a Guide to the Management of Infant Feeding Problems and a series of CPD Update cards covering the common infant feeding problems.

EllaOne

EllaOne

A complete training package to help pharmacists and the pharmacy team learn about ellaOne®, an emergency contraceptive pill newly available from pharmacies without a prescription. The training consisted of separate modules for the pharmacist the pharmacy support team, a patient information leaflet pad and a discussion guide.

In 2015, Omega Pharma developed modules on 'Conversations on Skincare' that received NPA accreditation. This training for the pharmacy team focused on three different conditions and was training aimed at promoting customer interaction.
